The Modeling Pipeline: How Two Agencies Skirted the Law and Fed the Elite's Social Circles and Epstein
The fashion industry, long tied to the world's wealthiest elite, has become a focus in the investigations into Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal network. Two distinct modeling executives and their agencies—Jean-Luc Brunel of Karin Models and Paolo Zampolli of ID Models—highlight two different ways the industry intersected with Epstein's toxic social and financial orbit.
The Operational Core: Brunel, Karin Models, and MC2
The most direct and sinister connection involves French model scout Jean-Luc Brunel and the two agencies he controlled: Karin Models and its U.S. successor, MC2 Model Management.
Financial Backing: Epstein allegedly provided financial support, reportedly up to $1 million in 2004, to help Brunel launch MC2. The agency's name, MC2, was noted to evoke Epstein's scientific interests, referencing the formula E=mc².
Procurement Allegations: Accusers, including Virginia Giuffre, alleged in court filings that Brunel used his agencies to recruit and traffic young girls, sometimes minors, from Europe to the U.S. on model visas, where they were then "farmed out" to Epstein and his wealthy friends for sex. Epstein reportedly bragged that he had "slept with over 1,000 of Brunel's girls."
The Fall of an Executive: Allegations of abuse against Brunel at Karin Models were reported as early as 1988. In 2020, Brunel was arrested in France and charged with the rape of minors and sex trafficking. He was found dead in a French jail cell in 2022, mirroring Epstein's fate. French investigators had previously searched the Paris offices of Karin Models as part of the probe.
The Social Bridge: Zampolli, ID Models, and Melania Trump
Paolo Zampolli, founder of ID Model Management, represents the social overlap between the modeling elite and Epstein's closest associates.
The First Lady’s Start: Zampolli is noted for sponsoring the U.S. work visa for Melanija Knavs (Melania Trump) and introducing her to Donald Trump in 1998. He was a prominent figure who moved easily between high fashion, high society, and real estate.
The Maxwell Partnership: Zampolli had a professional and social partnership with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s primary accomplice. They partnered on Maxwell’s ocean conservation charity, The TerraMar Project, which placed Zampolli directly within Maxwell’s professional sphere. Photos of Zampolli and Maxwell attending events together confirm this association.
Overlapping Circles: The connection ensured that ID Models’ social circle overlapped with Epstein’s. A photo from a 2000 party confirms the presence of Donald Trump, Melania Knauss, Jeffrey Epstein, and Ghislaine Maxwell together.
Legal Clearance: While Zampolli's agency was involved in the controversial use of visas for models, Zampolli has never been charged with sexual assault. Furthermore, Melania Trump successfully sued publications for claiming she worked as an escort, forcing retractions and apologies that confirmed the claims were false.
Ultimately, while Brunel's agencies were alleged to be instrumental components of Epstein’s criminal machine, Zampolli’s ID Models and its personnel served to normalize and connect the political and social elite with the toxic orbit that Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein occupied.
